This test paper allows the quick and easy detection of nickel.

For non-destructive testing of materials apply a drop of 3% Nitric acid (1 part Nitric acid 85%, 5 parts water) to the degreased surface. After 1 minute absorb the liquid with the test paper. With this procedure Nickel contents >0,5% are safely detected.

This test strip is for the rapid and reliable determination of nickel in solutions. The easy dip-and-read-procedure provides a reliable result within 30 seconds.
Nickel is used in metal plating processes and for metal alloys. Metal parts that come into contact with skin are tested with QUANTOFIX® Nickel to prevent allergic reactions. The test is also used for the easy monitoring of electroplating solutions and industrial waste water.
If the reaction color does not appear on the color scale, larger quantities of interfering ions (Co₂+ , Hg + ) are present. To eliminate these interferences, follow the procedure given in the instructions for use provided with the test sticks.

In ammonia solution nickel ions react with diacetyldioxime after oxidation with bromine to form a reddish-brown dye. Insoluble nickel compounds (e. g. nickel cyanide, nickel carbonate) and the nickel cyano complexes are not determined.

This test paper can be used for the determination of nickel in solutions as well as in materials containing nickel (non-destructive testing of alloys). In the presence of nickel ions (Ni 2+ ) the white test paper turns red. Interferences caused by iron, cobalt or copper can be circumvented as described in the instructions for use supplied with the paper.Limit of sensitivity: 10 mg/L Ni 2+
Note: For the determination of nickel in alloys, apply 1 drop nitric acid 3 % to the degreased surface. After about 1 minute absorb the liquid with the test paper. The presence of nickel is indicated by an intense red color. The paper can also be used to test for nickel in consumer goods (zip fasteners, bracelets, buttons etc.).Limit of sensitivity: 0.5 % Ni
