| Budget-Friendly test for suspicious powders |
| The INDIPRo test is primarily marketed to the food and restaurant industries for detecting protein contamination on work surfaces and utensils. However, being an assay for generic proteins, this test can be used to determine if a suspicious powder contains proteins. Thus it used as a quick screening test for first responders. A negative result elimi- nates the possibility of anthrax, ricin or others. The limit of detection is 50 μg protein. This detection limit was determined using a bovine serum albumin protein standard. This product is listed in “Biodetection Technologies for First Responders” a report prepared for the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate. [3] |
